Overview

The brief was to capture the scale, energy and community of the Christchurch Marathon, then turn it into a reusable content set that sustains momentum after the finish line packs down and sells next year's registrations. Coverage spanned pre-event registration, VIP moments, on-course action and finish-line storytelling.

  • 80 edited photos with a 24-hour turnaround
  • After-movie, master plus web and social bitrates, with a 7-day turnaround

Goal
Drive event engagement

Use high-impact visuals and rapid delivery to extend event buzz across social, email, media and sponsor channels. Equip the organiser with assets for retargeting and announcement campaigns.

Challenge
Turnaround time and logistics across locations

Concurrent moments across the course, changing light and weather, sponsor visibility requirements, and hard deadlines for 24-hour photo delivery and a 7-day film.

Solution
Pre-planned capture + rapid post

Route-mapped shot lists, dual coverage at critical choke points, micro-interviews at the finish line and VIP areas, and a templated edit pipeline with preset export stacks for each platform and partner.

Outcome
Evergreen media library

Delivered a versatile library that lifted engagement after the event, simplified sponsor reporting, and accelerated the promo cycle for next year's registrations across website, social and paid acquisition.
